The Vintage shopper

If you are on the same train as I am i.e. the vintage train, you will find this piece of information very useful.
As I was scouring the web for useful info (instead of jacking for oncoming exams), i found this...
Still interested? more info after the jump.

Oleku

Oleku....i don't mean the song by Ice prince, rather the style; OLEKU.
HISTORY:
the history of the trend can be traced to the early seventies in the south-wetsern part of Nigeria. The yoruba traditional wear of iro and buba was re-invented and re-styled into a shorter and more stylish version.
PRESENT:
there are so many recreations of Oleku but my best so far is one made by Bola Obileye (seriously dougnuts blogger and stylist behind Tote).
I love the chiffon trimming!
revamped buba
what do you think of this?
will you try it?

The Sunday Series

Now here goes the concluding part of this particular edition;
1. Dami
I really love the playful twist to Dami's outfit this Sunday. The high ponytail with the cute bow complemented her outfit comprising a beautifully patterned top and brown pants.

Dami and Ese
2. Ese
Ese's outfit consisted of a simple but tasteful blazer, black pants and flats. Her well-chosen accessories add enough spice; the 'shanbala' bracelet, wristwatch and of course a red pout from the princess of pouting.

 3. Shy Miss 'Anonymous'
Though her camera shy self wouldn't allow me to take a full pic, we can see that there's really nothing to be shy about. Her choice of colours was on point an the outfit was not overdone. The top, pants and shoes went together perfectly aand she gets a huge thumbs-up.
Lovely peep-toe shoes
 4. Jevwe (Je-we)
What can i say? I'm  nuts about this pattern; the hounds-tooth pattern. And Jevwe scores a special mark for not doing it too much. The blazer was balanced by a black straight skirt and black and white earrings. Finally the red belt adds a pop of colour.

 5. AY
I don't think that it's a coincidence that the only boy whose outfit caught my eye was one of the top male fashion designers in school right now. Of course i won't bore you with the well known 'Redef.' deets buh the orange blazer-blue shirt-lovely pocket square combo was on point. Now to the shoes, they are simply male shoe-candy!

 6. Nkem and Tosin
These girls really caught my eye with their tie neck blouses. Nkem's blouse has these lovely polka dots while Tosin's blouse has a lovely collar which is set of by the peach tie. Extra credits to Tosin for the wide legged pants.

 7. Vanessa
Vanessa looks really pretty in a flower print blouse and grey skirt. Not colour shy, she adds a peach purse and green belt. Check out the beautiful hair.

8.Ekem
Ekem's outfit shows a new take on the wide spreading palazzo pants trend. here she dressed it up with a blouse, blazer and flats.

 9. Dimigun
Dimigun's flower patterned dress is really lovely on her. the belt creates a lovely silhouette and the bright purse adds colour. The pearls are just perfect.

My Blogger-friend

yaaay....finally checked up on ese's blog: Romanrites.blogspot.com. It's really fun and I'm really proud of 'its Lewinsky' as we all love to call her. And also it's really nice of her to feature some of my last week's Sunday pics; will be uploading them later. But this post really goes out to her for the spontaneity of starting a blog out of the blues. You go girl!!!!!!
p.s: #ff back tho'

The Sunday Series

Sunday is the day when errybody here in my school unsheathes  their fashion 'swords'. So to tap into this wealth of fashion-drama, I'm starting this section. There's going to be pics of the good, the bad and the fugly. So since tomorrow is Sunday, it will be a good day to start. Now all you have to do is think deep before clashing those patterns *wink*.

Roberto Cavalli in Lagos?!

I know this is coming awfully late but only a part of this blame is mine. I knew that Roberto Cavalli was in Lagos way since but I couldn't gush about it due to the awful internet connection here in school. But still in my books it is still worth talking about. He wasn't here alone but also with Vogue Italia's Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani. What a huge affair for Nigeria's Fashion Industry. Things we miss out on for school? And with the way he was giving out free hugs, one could see that he's not one of those pompous celebrities that think we fans don't worth their time or hugs.
That's him with Omotola, so endearing *sighs*

Yessss!!!!!!!

Finally!!! After years of procrastination with some prevarication thrown in, I've finally started my BLOG! I know you are wondering-Yes, I'm that excited. Not only is it an outlet for some creative writing, it is also a  starting block for other things to come. So lemme start by giving little pointers about myself;
  • I am a student at the moment
  • I am an ardent reader of historical romance novels(not that I'm a helpless romantic tho')
  • I love being creative
  • I am a serious lover of fashion and style
  • I have a major lipstick fetish
  • I am  a dogged follower of the hippie movement
So try summing me up what do you get?
Yep that's me *covers face*.
